Worship December 26 - First Sunday After Christmas

Posted on Sat, Dec 25, 2021

What's Happening @faith?
First Sunday after Christmas
Luke 1:46-55
Mary
The Magnificat: My soul magnifies the Lord...

Mary looks down into the manger and sees the Christ Child Jesus. What does she see? What do we see?

This morning (Christmas) the Grinch with Jim Carey was on. Virgie was watching it, so I sat down to watch for the umpteenth time.

The Grinch has stolen all of Whoville's Christmas: trees, presents, roast beast, and everything else. From the top of the mountain, he hears not misery but the song,

Welcome Christmas come this way
Fahoo fores dahoo dores
Welcome Christmas, Christmas day
Welcome, welcome fahoo ramus
Welcome, welcome dahoo damus
Christmas day is in our grasp
So long as we have hands to clasp
Fahoo fores dahoo dores

The Grinch says,  “It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!  Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. ‘Maybe Christmas,’ he thought, ‘doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.’”

Merry Christmas! See you at church.
Christmas Liturgy – Mary Pondered
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. 17 When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2:15-19

Leader: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
People: The message of the angel, 'Don't be afraid, you are highly favoured.'
Leader: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
People: The words of the shepherds, 'Peace on earth, goodwill to all.'

Leader: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
People: The gifts from the wise men, 'Gold for a king, incense for a God.'
Leader: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
People: The prophecy of Simeon, 'This child will be the rising and falling of many.'

Leader: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
People: The vision of the prophets, 'The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.'
Leader: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
People: The song of her cousin, 'You are blessed above all, and so is your child.'
All: Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.

Two (Worship) Places at Once
This week, you have two options for worship: Join us back at the Club Room at 10:30 for worship, or join on Zoom. Login information about Zoom worship is below.

Participate Via Zoom
We have purchased equipment to connect in-person worship to the web. We have a camera that will focus on the piano and the pulpit, and a computer connection to the audio. If you join us on Zoom, you will be able to see and hear as if you were there. In addition, we will be able to hear your prayer requests and (eventually) see you. In the weeks to come, we will expand this further to include and grow our internet congregation. Please invite your friends, and inform people you know that will be interested.

Be There In Person
Worship will be a bit different until the danger of COVID-19 is over, and the Pink Palace has a few new procedures we need to follow.

It will be a big help if you come prepared. Here are the procedures as we have them now:
Please arrive close to 10:00.
Observe social distancing before and during worship.
We are taking our own temperatures now. Please make sure someone takes yours. The thermometer the Pink Palace provided only reads in Celsius; a 100.4 F temperature is 38 degrees celcius.
The Pink Palace has a form that everyone must sign to enter. The form is similar to what you may have signed at the doctor's or dentist's office. Please be sure to sign.
Please wear a mask during worship. If you do not have one or forget it, we will have masks available.
We will have hand sanitizer available if you want it.

Notes On Worship
Chairs have been arranged in spaced rows. Please observe social distancing as appropriate.
There will be no singing during worship.
Please keep your mask on except during the Lord's Supper, and replace it immediately after you have taken Communion.
We are following the same order of worship we have been using on Zoom. All of this is new. We are learning as we go.
